A unique café in Epsom. This renovated 1901 chapel, home to The Horton café , bar and arts venue, is the only original publicly accessible building remaining within Epsom’s once world-famous 1000-acre psychiatric hospital site.
As well as a wide range of excellent food and drink in our café-bar, we also have a permanent exhibition about the fascinating history of the hospitals which is free to enter (click here).
We are open Tuesdays to Saturdays with free car parking.
Our beautiful Grade II listed building, with many original features, is in a quiet location away from noise and traffic.
Just the place for a tranquil lunch, coffee and cake, or a drink. We are only a short walk from Horton Country Park. Our building is fully accessible and we also have an outdoor seating area at the edge of our extensive gardens.
We are typically open from 9.15am to 4pm (later on event nights, see what’s on here).

We have a varied menu with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, as well as daily specials and a children’s menu.
The vast majority of our food is prepared in our own kitchen by our experienced chef. We also have a well-stocked bar with draught beers and cocktails.

Our café-bar, is used for all manner of meetings, get-togethers and coffee mornings…why not join one, or create your own!
Regular groups you’ll spot in our in our cafe are a cycling club, business people and mums after school drop-offs. Our most popular gatherings are our book clubs on Saturdays and Wednesdays. New members are welcome.

Dogs: Due to the heritage nature of the building we don’t allow dogs inside our café (guide dogs or assistance dogs excepted). We have an outdoor seating area and gardens where well-behaved dogs are allowed…we also sell doggy ice-cream!
