In 2018 and 2019, The Horton Chapel Project arranged heritage research skills training for local volunteers, supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
A full-day of bespoke training took place at Surrey History Centre in Woking, led by director Julian Pooley. Each person then selected a different area of the Epsom Hospital Cluster’s history to find out about, looking at original documents that were rescued from the site, as developers moved in.
Some of our history hunters also visited London Metropolitan Archives and have been supported by Jeremy Harte, curator of Bourne Hall Museum and Epsom & Ewell History Explorer online.
