The Alionor Trio – Fundraising Concert
Brighten up your November afternoon with a concert of piano trio classics.
Programme includes Beethoven’s Trio Op 11 and Mendelssohn’s Trio No 1 Op.
Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 11 is a vibrant and dynamic work showcasing Beethoven’s early mastery of chamber music. With its playful energy, lyrical elegance, and memorable themes, including a popular variation movement, this trio captures Beethoven’s innovative spirit.
Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 is a passionate and lyrical masterpiece, blending romantic expressiveness with brilliant virtuosity. Known for its soaring melodies, rich harmonies, and dynamic interplay between the piano, violin, and cello, this trio captivates listeners with its emotional depth. A timeless favourite in the chamber music repertoire.
Alan Thomas, a Livingstone Park resident, founded the Alionor Trio in 2017 with colleagues from the Kingston and District Chamber Music Society. They have performed in a number of venues in Surrey and South-West London, including Bushy House, All Saints Kingston, St Matthews Redhill and Saint Michael’s Wandsworth.
This is Alan’s second performance at the Horton after appearing with Elaine Brickman in a programme of cello sonatas last February. He is delighted to return for another fundraising concert.
All ticket sales for this performance have been generously donated to support The Horton’s 88 Keys campaign. The Horton is raising funds to buy the baby grand piano currently on loan. Giving the piano a permanent home at The Horton will support our vision of being able to host exceptional artists performing a diverse programme of piano music. Find Out More
