The Horton’s 88 Keys Grand Piano Fund

The Horton, Epsom is raising funds to buy the baby grand piano that fits perfectly in our Performance Space.

Giving the piano a permanent home at The Horton will support our vision of being able to host exceptional artists performing a diverse programme of piano music.

Pianist Jose-Vicente Riquelme, with the piano

Those who attended the sold-out Breezes of Spain performance by classical collective Alma Española on Friday 29th March, were able to see and hear concert pianist Jose-Vicente Riquelme creating a beautiful sound on a Yamaha baby grand piano that had been hired by their musical director Antonio Hernanadez especially for the event.

Following a standing ovation for the artists and many compliments from the audience about the wonderful piano, we knew that we should try to raise the money to keep the instrument.

And you can help! We are looking for 88 donations of £100 or more – one per piano key – to raise the £8000 needed.

As well as opening doors to programming talented professional musicians who require a concert piano, securing the new instrument will also give young pianists the opportunity to perform at a higher level, in a special venue.

Antonio Hernandez, Musical Director of Alma Española

Classical collective Alma Española will be returning to The Horton in 25-27 July, travelling from Spain especially to perform a packed programme of concerts, workshops and talks for Bolero: Festival of Spanish Music & Dance.

Performing – we hope – on the beautiful baby grand piano that our supporters will help to buy…
