Artist Maria Walker, one of the winners of The Horton Summer Exhibition 2024, exhibits a curated collection of her thought-provoking textile and mixed media work.
Have you ever imagined what a broken piece of pottery or a stained table cloth would tell us if they could speak ? Artist Maria Walker does just that in her exhibition These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things.
Enter the artist’s rooms, where objects and artwork mingle. Explore memories that these intricate and symbolic works may ignite and discover the stories they can tell us – if we take time to stop and look.
Maria Walker will also be teaching a creative textile workshop at The Horton

About The Artist:
Maria Walker is a Surrey-based textile artist and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions around Britain.
She uses her experience of being human to inspire her textile art and installations.
She gathers together diverse objects and materials which she combines with cloth and stitch to tell stories through her artwork often creating unusual juxtapositions.
Memory and narrative are important threads which run through her art practice. She is particularly interested in everyday life and is a collector of many things: from old photographs and snippets of overheard conversations to vintage household paraphernalia and discarded shopping lists.
Maria has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts.
