An all day session of the theory and practice of print making. Hosted by Mark Shepherd a professional illustrator and artist living and working in Epsom.
Print techniques that will be covered include:
- Drypoint
- Mezzotint
- Engraving
- Acid etching
- Aquatint
- Mark making
- Inking a plate
- Preparing the paper
- Using the press
In the afternoon each student will create their own plate either from examples provided or from their own design which will then be printed using the press.
All materials will be provided for the day.
Please note that the workshop will run 10am – 4pm, there will be a break for lunch – food can be pre ordered at the café on your arrival.
Mark Shepherd trained as an Architect but has worked as a self-employed illustrator and digital artist within the construction industry for over 30 years. In 1994 he exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and subsequently held several one man shows. From 2009 – 2017 Mark worked as Head of Brand for a car insurance company in the City where he developed a brand identity for a business that introduced telematics to the world of insurance. His focus is now returning back to his love of Art and he sees the opportunity to teach as a way of sharing the joy of being creative. Instagram: @mark_shepherd_drawings
