Spanish Season at The Horton

Join professional flamenco dancer Francisco Serrano Bermejo for an introduction to some of the most important Flamenco “palos”(rhythm patterns). Learn ‘palmas’ (clapping) techniques, basic footwork steps and traditional moves, elemental marking, arm-foot coordination and arm markings on the outside and inside. The masterclass will culminate in participants performing a simple choreography of Sevillana without castanets.

About Francisco Serrano Bermejo
Franciso graduated from the Professional Dance Conservatory of Murcia, specializing in Spanish Dance.

He won first prize at the Tiempo de Danza contest, Murcia, in its X Edition, in 2018. He was awarded a scholarship to study with the National Ballet of Spain, in 2019.

From 2015 – 2018 Francisco was a member of the Ballet Joven Flamenco de Murcia and of the Mara Duran Company, 2018-2019 season. He is currently a dancer in the choreographic workshop of Ángel Manarre, in the Murciana Dance Company and in the Algazara Flamenco Ballet.

He is currently studying Spanish Dance at the Superior Dance Conservatory of Alicante.

Part of Spanish Season at The Horton
A series of classical music and dance in tribute to the tragic dancer Felix Garcia, banished to Horton Asylum in 1919. Performed by celebrated artists from Spain on an international tour. This is the only UK date.
