Comedy At The Horton – September

Friday 6th September, 8pm

This month’s fun and merriment provided by James Ellis, Samantha Day, Funmbi Omotayo
and all held together by one of our all-time fave comperes Dani Johns.

Dani Johns
Born and bred Bristolian Dani Johns is described as a “smart, clever pocket rocket of a comedian” whose “sassy delivery captivates every audience member”. Dani is an instantly likeable act with an impressive and increasing list of accolades (including BBC New Comedy Award, Funny Women Stage Award & Komedia Bath Act of the Year Award). With an energetic mix of storytelling and serious over sharing, she’s been named as one of the best new comics on the scene and is taking the circuit by storm. Even Jason Manford said she’s great.

Funmbi Omatayo
Funmbi is a force of nature, a natural comedian who oozes charisma that makes the audience instantly fall in love with him. A circuit headliner who boast a host of awards including Best Newcomer At The Black Comedy Awards, Winner of Amused Moose & Leicester Square Comedian Of The Year. His talents have seen him perform across the globe including Canada, Holland & Germany to name a few. Funmbi has provided tour support for John Bishop & Hal Crutteden, has popped up on ITV, BBC, Comedy Central & Channel 4 and to top it off has performed two shows at the Edinburgh Festival.

James Ellis

“James Ellis is a triple threat, he’s really very bloody funny, has a great stage presence and has the best hair in the business” Angela Barnes

Award-winning comedian James Ellis is a rising star in the UK comedy scene. His sharp observational humour and clever punchlines have won him raves reviews from audiences and critics alike. James’ comedy is rooted in everyday life, and he has a knack for finding the funny in the mundane. A gifted write, his jokes are well-crafted and delivered with precision.

Samantha Day

“The real deal, a fresh voice tempered by a life full of square peg experience” – Nick Page, English Comedian of the Year

Samantha has six children. Three of them are stepchildren, which means that they have been brought up properly, by someone else, and are therefore nice. But her three are a lot better at shoplifting. She is 53, but looks younger because she’s had a lot of work done. Some people have said that that makes her a bad feminist. They don’t know the half of it. For nearly thirty years, Samantha was an accountant. She gave it up when, despite her best efforts, she only managed to sleep her way to the middle. “Always has our audiences in stitches, spouting words of wisdom and self-improvement – whether wanted or not!” – Flock Comedy Club
