Join artist Katie Brent for a one-day acrylic botanical landscape course.
This one-day course will help develop confidence in how to colour mix, create texture, depth and movement. Using brush marks to describe different textures, layer paint and create interesting compositions.
Taking inspiration from the impressionists; how they worked quickly to capture light, their use of complementary colours and aerial
perspective.
The workshop will be led with demonstrations and tips throughout the day. Participants will create their own samples of techniques to take with them and a completed A4 landscape, gaining confidence in their own painting practice.
This workshop would suit artists looking to broaden their range of skills, as well as people with some experience of painting, who lack confidence in using acrylics.
All materials will be provided. Bring an old apron and or old clothing!
Meet The Artist:
Inspired by the stunning Jurassic coastline and the rolling hills of Somerset and Dorset, Katie Brent works expressively with a variety of mediums: oils, acrylic, mixed media and aquatint printing. First taking photographs, or sketching directly ‘en situ’ to depict a particular moment in time and atmosphere she says:
“I am drawn to the landscape that surrounds me, I never tire of it and seek to capture the atmosphere and splendour of it. It is a constant source of inspiration.”
Upon completing a degree in graphic design and illustration at St Martin’s School of Art and Design, and then a P.G.C.E, Katie worked as an artist and muralist in London; then as a freelance artist for an art consultancy, her commissions featuring around the globe.
Katie now lives in Somerset. She is currently represented at; London Contemporary Art Gallery in London, Greenstage Gallery in Hereford, A2 Gallery in Wells, Highgate Contemporary Art in London and Hatch Gallery in Christchurch. https://www.katiebrent.co.uk
