Seeking Proposals For An Artist Commission
The Horton is commissioning panoramic artworks, inspired by the history of music therapy at Horton Hospital, as part of our project The Music Of Life.
The music therapy programme began at Horton in 1955, the first of its kind in Europe, and the approach developed there became the foundation of the clinical specialism practised today. The Horton is the hospital’s former chapel, and the space converted for music therapy is now our performance space.
The commissioned artworks will be displayed in the corridor beside it.
The selected artist will be presented with rich visual, sonic and textual source materials.
The project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Deadline for submission of initial applications 30 August.
Three shortlisted artists will be notified 3 September.
Selected artist commissioned 17–18 September.
Installation 16-18 November.
