Award-winning duo Max & Veronica bring vintage blues, ragtime and jazz to life with irresistible charm, wit and groove, transforming every concert into a warm and joyful experience.
Among Europe’s leading ambassadors of early American roots music, they blend ragtime, country blues, early jazz and hillbilly music, capturing the authentic spirit of the 1920s and 1930s while connecting with contemporary audiences.
Max De Bernardi
A master of fingerpicking guitar, Max draws inspiration from legendary artists including Mississippi John Hurt, Furry Lewis, Blind Blake and Reverend Gary Davis.
His musical journey began as a young street busker and evolved through years of performing on major national and international stages. After playing with electric blues bands in the 1980s, he returned to acoustic blues with the release of Stories We Can Tell in 2001. Since then, he has collaborated with acclaimed American artists such as Mitch Woods, Tom Russell, Lowell “Banana” Levinger and Sugar Blue, while performing at some of Europe’s most prestigious blues festivals.
Veronica Sbergia
An award-winning singer and multi-instrumentalist, Veronica is celebrated for her warm, expressive vocals and mastery of early blues and roots styles.
Known particularly for her work in country blues, ragtime and jazz, she combines a deep respect for tradition with a distinctive contemporary artistic vision. With her band Veronica & The Red Wine Serenaders, she won the European Blues Challenge in 2013 and received Italy’s prestigious MEI Award.
A Celebration of Early Blues and Roots Music
Between 2007 and 2024, Max & Veronica released nine albums, including the critically acclaimed Bawdy Black Pearls, a bold tribute to early female blues songs.
