Kath Macdiarmid Exhibition: An Ordinary Life

Kath Macdiarmid Exhibition: An Ordinary Life

Tuesday 4th – Saturday 15th February

In this project I am exploring childhood memories of holidays in Ireland and my days at home during my 1970s childhood in West London.  What was an ordinary life becomes a record of a particular time in history. With this body of work I hope others will recognise this period and remember special times in their own past.

About The Artist
In the late 80s I completed my Foundation Course at Chelsea School of Art and studied Fashion at John Moores University in Liverpool.

I worked for the fashion company Red or Dead for 12 years before leaving to have my two sons.

While they were growing up my only creative outlet was making patchwork quilts for friends and attending occasional life drawing classes as I was working part time.

In October 2022 I started life drawing at The Horton on a regular basis. I thoroughly enjoy these sessions and can see the positive impact that regular practise has had on my work. Taking part in the Summer Exhibition and the positive feedback has given me the confidence to keep painting.
