Hand Quilting Workshop with Sarah Hibbert
Friday 6th February, 10am – 4pm
Join Sarah Hibbert, experienced quilter and author of ‘From Collage to Quilt’ in an exciting full-day workshop to create your own unique table mat or decorative square.
You will be guided in how to hand-piece fabrics together in a layout along the lines of a log cabin. You may wish to work with larger pieces to show your quilting style or with narrow strips to create colour. You will be aiming for a block around 10” square, very much freestyle, but the choice is yours.
You will have the opportunity to try it out using linen, which is more tactile in your hands when working.
Once your blocks are pieced, there are a variety of different ways to quilt to add texture to your work. Sarah will be talking you through different stitches and knots you may wish to use as an addition to your design.
Finally, Sarah will show you how to finish off the piece, either by a simple binding or face binding.
These pieces can be framed or used as a decorative splash on your coffee table.
All tools, needles and materials will be provided.
If you wish, you can bring some of your own linen or cotton to add to your design.
Enjoy a day full of colour, threads, and exchanging stories. Suitable for beginners or experienced quilters.
