Experimental Mixed Media Painting Workshop

Would you like to express yourself and experiment in painting? Are you curious about the mixed-media products that are available to use with acrylic?
Join artist Rue Stanley to have fun and unleash your creativity – producing three different artworks over the course of the day. Price includes art pack to take home.
Guided by artist Rue, you’ll explore the possibilities of materials and techniques that allow your imagination to flow. You will have the opportunity to use some unusual products such as alcohol and gold leaf to complement your work. Unlock endless possibilities with an array of materials at your disposal including coloured gesso, acrylic paints, Isopropyl alcohol, acrylic liquid medium, metallic paints, and shimmering metal leaf.
Your creativity will soar as you explore the options.
During this workshop you will:
- Learn about surfaces for mixed media and how to pick the best one.
- Learn hacks professionals use to make creation easier.
- Learn how to overcome Painter’s Block.
- Enjoy a discussion and demonstration of art mediums and novel products.
- Learn to create focal interest and layering.
- Learn to use metal leaf.
- Understand the importance of sealing, drying time and how to varnish your work.
All materials will be provided and the price of the course includes mixed media painting kit for you to continue experimenting at home, including:
12 tubes of acrylic paint colour, one small bottle of liquid medium, pipette, 2 sheets metal leaf, 2 brushes. Additional materials will be available for your use during the session.
Please bring photographs, magazine cuttings for reference and if you have an art product at home that you would like to explore more creative uses for, bring that too.

Meet The Tutor:
Rue Stanley is a mixed media, experimental artist working out of her studio in Tattenham Corner, Epsom. Her work draws inspiration from nature, whimsey and surrealism and is driven by the need to create colour and texture that makes the work tactile, sculptural, and joyful. Rue Stanley is self-taught and has developed a variety of novel exciting ways to use acrylic, collage, and mixed media. She has been exhibiting and selling her work in Surrey since 2019. ruestanleyart.com
