The Female Composition –  A Classical Concert with Isaac Conibear and Alex Lukov

Saturday 16th May, 1pm

Enjoy the powerful voice of young local baritone Isaac Conibear in an exciting musical programme showcasing some of the most prolific female composers in the western classical tradition.

Works composed by the likes of Lilli Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn and Amy Beach will be accompanied on piano by another talented young musician, Alex Lukov.

The inspiration behind the programme originates from the last six years that Isaac has spent studying at Trinity Laban, where he has been able to explore, sing and perform a wide variety of repertoire in classes, practice, and examination.

He explains: “I have found the inclusion of female composition in repertoire guidelines for recitals rather interesting. Phrases like “We strongly encourage” were used when it came to selecting pieces by female composers for major and minor examinations, and while it was a good first step into getting students to acknowledge the colossal contribution women have made to classical music, I always felt there was so many better ways to entice students to sing classical music composed by women.”

Entry to this concert is FREE and donations will be collected on exit. Proceeds will be split between the artists and the charity.
