Fairies, lovers, and one very silly donkey – Shakespeare as you’ve never laughed at it before.

Four Forty Theatre invite you into their outrageous take on Shakespeare’s most magical comedy. A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows runaway lovers, magical creatures, and a group of very determined actors who find themselves in over their heads. With quick character changes, playful invention, and a sparkle of silliness, Four Forty transform the classic into a joyful night of theatre for audiences of all ages.

Whether you’re a Shakespeare lover or brand new to his plays, this production brims with warmth, laughter, and unexpected surprises.

It’s a summer dream brought vividly – and hilariously – to life.

Important Information About This Event

Food and Drink
Visitors are not permitted to bring food and drink from home into The Horton Gardens. The Horton is a licensed premises and any product seen will be removed by staff and volunteers.
Our café-bar will be open from 5.30pm – serving snacks, drinks and ice-cream. All profits from the café support our charity and enable us to put on events like this one.

Pre-order a tasty charcuterie or veggie box to eat in the cafe or during the show. Order at the online checkout by Tuesday 25th August, 3pm. 

Seating
You are welcome to bring blankets and cushions as audience members will be seated on the ground. A small number of chairs will be available for those who are unable to sit on the floor. Customers can bring small camping chairs but may be asked to sit at the back to ensure everyone is able to see. For seating or any other accessibility requirements please get in touch with us in advance.

Arrival Time
We recommend you arrive in plenty of time to visit the café and discover more about The Horton. The venue and gardens will be open from 5.30pm.

Weather
This event will be outdoors unless the weather is extreme, in which case the show will move indoors.

Please check the forecast on the day of the show and come dressed for the conditions. Please don’t bring umbrellas as they block sightlines for other audience members. Please wear raincoats, ponchos or hats instead. Our team will closely monitor weather forecasts in the lead up to outdoor events and should there ever be any concern regarding extreme weather, we will inform ticket holders by email.

Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase unless the event is cancelled or postponed. If an event is postponed and rescheduled and you inform us within 14 days that you are unable to make the rescheduled date, you will be refunded in full.

We reserve the right to delay the start of the show in the interests of safety.

Dogs
Dogs will not be allowed in the main audience seating area during performances. There will be a designated space for assistance dogs and small well-behaved dogs. If any dog disturbs the show, the audience member will be asked to remove the dog.

A £2 booking fee is included in ticket prices. This applies when booking online and in person. The booking fee covers costs charged to the charity for the booking system and payment processing.
