Forget Me Not Memorial Garden Exhibition
Tuesday 10th October – Friday 8th December
Remembering Epsom’s forgotten residents.
Forget Me Not Memorial Garden is a moving temporary outdoor installation – part of the Out of Sight, Out of Minds Project, organised Friends of Horton Cemetery, and led by Dr. Alana Harris.
The installation of more than 1500 ceramic flowers – each one painted individually by members of the public – aims to bring recognition and dignity to pauper patients and former service personnel laid to rest and abandoned on derelict land in Horton Cemetery.
This free installation will be unveiled on World Mental Health Day, 10th October, in the grounds of The Horton Arts Centre, and will be on display until Remembrance Day – Creation of the Forget Me Not Memorial Garden was funded by Historic England and organised by Friends of Horton Cemetery.
About Out of Sight Out of Mind
Out of Sight, Out of Mind are a digital, arts-based project, revisioning the life histories of patients in Europe’s largest asylum cemetery. Led by Dr Alana Harris on behalf of the charity, they seek to recapture the stories of patients and create a crowd-sourced memorial, overcoming historical amnesia, neglect, and inaction.
